A little over a year ago, I found out about Pink Sweat$ through a friend who was playing a song from his album PINK PLANET. He was playing At My Worst, and had told me he found out about Pink Sweat$ thanks to a feature from Kehlani, one of his favorite artists. I immediately became a fan of At My Worst and added it to my Apple Music library. An entire year later, I finally looked up the rest of PINK PLANET and played it all the way through while cleaning my house. From start to finish, I didn’t come across a single song that I wanted to skip over, I felt like a fool for not checking out the album earlier.

As a collection that explores a handful of different genres, from upbeat pop and R&B to slow, melodic, soul-felt ballads, PINK PLANET can provide you with songs to add to almost any playlist you have for whatever mood you are in. Personally, I am a huge fan of artists diversifying their music within an album and showing off their range. That reason alone was enough to get me engaged.

Highlights:

At My Worst

One of my favorite songs on the album, At My Worst is the only song that comes with both an original version as well as an added feature — and one from quite a notable artist, at that. It’s got a very catchy melody that, paired with the duet’s harmony, can make the listener want to play this song on repeat.

17

The kind of song you’d imagine dancing to at your wedding, 17 is a slow ballad that epitomizes what it means to love somebody for an entire lifetime.

PINK FAMILY

The only song in this collection that dives a bit into his hip-hop side, PINK FAMILY makes for a good song to get you pumped up for gameday (its whole message is about winning, anyway).

Magic

Magic delivers what I would consider to be a mixture of blues, R&B, and soul. If I had to provide one piece from this album that truly exemplifies Pink Sweat$’ vocal talent, it would have to be this one because his range was absolutely impressive.

PINK PLANET is Pink Sweat$ first official studio album and was released in February of 2021, preceding his newest addition of PINK MOON (January 2022). As a recently-grown artist, I appreciate Pink Sweat$’ newfound work and will continually be a fan of his as he builds his following (a process that I can not see being too difficult for him considering the quality of his music). With instrumentals, vocals, and everything else considered, I can certainly say this album is a solid 9.5/10 and would recommend it to all of my friends.

You can find PINK PLANET on most major streaming platforms, including Spotify, Apple Music, YouTube Music and Pandora. The entire collection comprises 18 songs with a total runtime of 49 minutes.
