Amazon’s Audible subscription seems a little expensive, especially if you tend to read books rather than listen to them. At $14 a month, it’s a luxury for the book worm and the person who loves really good audio. It works like this:

Every month you pay for the service, you get a credit to buy one audiobook. But not only that, you get Audible originals which are fully voice-acted titles with sound and music. Its almost like having your own books narrated in audio drama form and some of these books are narrated by actors who you may know of. But we’ll get to that later. As a bonus, even if you cancel, you get to keep all the books you bought with credits so you don’t lose what you enjoyed.

I’ve been using Audible for about 4 months, and overall, I would say I love it. I have particular genres I like to personally listen to. I like fantasy and medieval works. And for me, Audible could not be a better service.

They have all the Harry Potter books from my favorite narrator, Jim Dale. I listen to these books as part of my Christmas tradition every year and the right narrator makes or breaks any book for me. That’s the beauty with Audible. You have. A huge selection of titles with decent narrators like Jim Dale and Steven Pacey who narrates the First Law series by Joe Abercrombie.

You also get Audible Originals like:

• The Complete Works of Shakespeare narrated and acted by Ian McKellen and others

The Chronicles of Narnia, partially narrated by Patrick Stewart and other voices

These are just two examples of audiobooks that really make the cut for me when it comes to what I love to listen to.

They have books of many different genres ranging from horror to true crime to inspirational. It really is the world’s largest collection of audiobooks or at least for me it feels like it. I most definitely do not regret paying for Audible. If you love books in the old-fashion one narrator style, you’ll find that here. If you love dramatized versions of your favorite plays, you’re certain to find that here, too. Anything you could want, you’ll find that here. It’s all here whether you’re looking for a good audiobook to read for class just because you’d rather not strain your eyes. That’s what Audible is all about.
