What You Should Order at Napa Thai

By Jacob Seawright

If you are someone like me and like to try new food, or if you are just tired of the Cafe food, or any of the other basic fast food places you go to on a regular basis, or if you just want a quality meal, you should check out Napa Thai. Napa Thai is the only authentic Thai restaurant in Lexington. If you have never had Thai food, this is the place to try it.

Drinks

Usually when I go out to eat I just get water, but the Thai Tea that Napa Thai offers is amazing. It has a very unique flavor, you might be confused if you like it or not… I know that I was. After getting it once, I have had it every time I’ve gone. It’s a must. And if its not your thing, there are plenty of options to choose from.

Appetizers

With a lot of options when it comes to appetizers, it may be hard to choose, so I’ll help out a little with my top three:

  1. The appetizer I tried most recently, and I think is my new favorite, is the Chicken Wings. It comes with 4 jumbo sized wings, with a crispy exterior and juicy interior, and paired nicely with a sweet red Chile sauce. At $7 it is a great option.

2. Another excellent option is the chicken spring rolls. You can’t go wrong with these. With a flakey exterior and a tasty interior they are a safe choice- anyone would like them. Cost $6.

3. Calamari — If you are someone who likes seafood or want to try something that you haven’t had before, this is a great choice. Cost $10.

Entrees

With a variety of choices, I’m going to name my favorite- taking into account pricing, quantity, and taste.

  1. Panang Curry

The first dish that comes into mind is the Panang Curry. It has a great flavor profile with a little bit of spice and a creamy coconut taste. There are different meats you can have with it like chicken, pork, beef, shrimp, and even a seafood blend. I usually get the chicken because it is the cheapest and one of the tastiest options coming in at $14. If you really wanted to treat yourself, and like seafood like I do, I would get the Seafood blend for $21. Both are amazing.

Tip: ask for extra rice, they usually wont charge you…but they might.

2. Basil Duck

The basil duck may be a bit pricey at $23, but it is fantastic. It’s a Duck breast lightly breaded and sautéed. Served with garlic, red bell peppers, thai basil, and a savory basil sauce, and served with rice. It might be one of the best dishes I have had in a long time.

3. Pad Thai

One of the more popular Thai dishes, Pad Thai is a safe choice. Stir fried thin rice noodles in a homemade sauce with peanut, egg, scallion, and bean sprout. Along with your choice of meat (same as Panang Curry).

Dessert

If you still aren’t full after all of that, or just want something sweet, they have a solid dessert option. I would recommend the Coconut Ice cream, or if you don’t like coconut, the chocolate lava cake.

Napa Thai does not get the recognition it deserves. With many great dishes to choose from, each unique from the next, you will not be disappointed.
