Founded just a few years ago, the Swing Dance club has become a fun spot for students of all backgrounds and dance experience levels. It offers a welcoming environment where beginners can learn the basics and experienced dancers can showcase their skills. Whether you are coming for the swing dancing, the line dances, or to have a fun activity on your Friday night, there is something for everyone.

We know that when people hear “swing dancing,” they think it’s not for them. Well, here is a quick rundown of our Friday nights to show you what it’s all about. At the beginning of each meeting, a few of the instructors show off some fun couples dance moves to practice and work on throughout the night. After the teaching is over, the fun begins. Music plays and everyone finds their rhythm; some people come with one person, in particular, to dance with, while others roam about the ballroom asking others to dance. Throughout the night, line dances come on, everyone quickly lines up, and people find their way and start stomping along with the beat.

With each spin and dip to the beat, the Country Swing Dance Club at Southern Virginia is proof that university life is about more than just academics. It’s a place where students can find their rhythm, create lasting memories, and dance their way into a vibrant and supportive community. So, if you’re looking to add a little swing to your university experience, this club is the place to be.

Join in, step out, and discover the magic of country swing dancing at Southern Virginia on Tuesday and Friday Nights at 7:00 p.m.
