On Wednesday, March 8, the Southern Virginia University women’s tennis team started their spring season at home facing Meredith College. With a good amount of players returning from last year, there were high expectations and goals for this season. The match started off sweeping in doubles. Doubles 1,2, and 3 had dominating performances to secure a 3–0 lead into the singles matches. That dominance continued in singles as most matches ended pretty quickly. Paula Snelson (‘25), Campbell Bueler (‘24), and Jill Arnold (’25) had lightning fast first set finishes.

Paula Snelson stated,

“We had played them [Meredith College] before so we knew what to expect, the team was prepared and ended up winning all doubles and singles matches, giving us the final score 9–0. We were super happy and excited with the results. Let’s go, Knights!”

To end the day, as Snelson mentioned, the Knights finished with a 9–0 win, showing a lot of promise and talent heading into the rest of the season.
