Even in the rain, frolicking through sunflowers is an adventure everyone needs to experience in their life.

Last Saturday, I took the 30 minute trek to Beaver Dam Farm for their annual Sunflower Festival. The Sunflower Festival is a gathering of various vendors and food trucks on a farm of over 600,000 sunflowers. My roommate and his girlfriend dragged me along to be their photographer but, I think I had just as much fun as they did.

The first thing we did was take a ride around the field in a tractor. Our experience with the tractor ride gave us a good perspective of how big the farm was and how many flowers there actually were. After the tractor ride, we took the time to go around to each vendor and see what they had. Each vendor sold their own homemade items. My favorite vendors sold candles (which were some of the best smelling candles I’ve ever smelled in my life), 3D printed objects, homemade woodwork ornaments, and kitchen utensils.

During our experience at the Farm, it started to rain. We knew it would quickly turn into a raging downpour so we hurried to the sunflower field; it was one of the best experiences of my life. The sweet smell of the flowers mixed with the fresh smell of the rain is forever engraved in my memory.

Right before we left, we took a stroll around the food trucks they had and looked at all the options. My favorite was the wood-fire cooked pizza truck (I highly recommend for next year).

The Sunflower Festival is already wrapped up for the season. However, this is an annual event. I highly recommend you check it out next fall if you get the chance!
