The Remix: My Chemical Romance

By Katherine Kloepping

Hello Readers, welcome to the first article of the new series The Remix! My name is Katherine Kloepping, creator of the series. Because of my excitement for this series, I wanted to write the first installment of The Remix and kick off the series!

Music is one of my favorite things in the world. It has become one of the several ways that I am able to express myself and my emotions. The band that has helped me most is My Chemical Romance. This is the band that I wasn’t expecting to be a saving grace during one of the hardest times in my life. The first song I ever listened to was “Fake Your Death,” one of their upbeat songs that made me fall in love with their music.

It isn’t the beat that made me return to their music time and time again, it was the lyrics. Each time I listened to their music, it felt like I was with a group of friends who didn’t know what I was going through. Yet, they understood the words I couldn’t seem to speak.

My Chemical Romance taught me that it’s okay to feel the many emotions that have a habit of swirling around in your mind. To me, each album represents a different emotion, expressing that in their songs.

Not only do I love their music, I love the message they stand for. My Chemical Romance is a group of male activists for those who suffer from mental illnesses, suicidal thoughts, depression, and anxiety. It is not often that I come across a band that wants to help people through their hard times, which is partly why I like them so much. They know what it is like because they went through it too.

This band has given me hope that I will be able to get through whatever it is I am going through. And that there are four guys just as messed up as I am.

My Chemical Romance can be accessed through Spotify, Youtube, and any other music streaming platform. Check them out!
